Definition EXPENDITURE PER EQUIVALENT ADULT - Expenditure per equivalent adults is defined as the total annual expenditure of a household divided by the number of equivalent adults of this same household. EQUIVALENT ADULTS - The number of equivalent adult is calculated by using the modified scale of equivalence provided by the OECD, which assigns a weight of 1.0 to the first adult, 0.5 to every other adult and 0.3 to every child below 14 years of age.
