• REFERENCE PERIOD:  Period to which the information refers and which may be a specific day or a time interval (month, fiscal year, calendar year, among others).
• PRIVATE HOUSEHOLD:  A group of people living at the same dwelling, with either "de jure" or "de facto" family relationships,occupying the all or part of a dwelling; or a single person that fully or partly accupies a dwelling.
• NON-MONETARY EXPENDITURE:  Private household expenditure that corresponds to self-consumption (food and other goods produced by the household), self-supply (goods or services obtained, without payment, from an establishment operated by the household), self-housing (self-assessment by households who own or use free accommodation of the hypothetical value of rent), receipts in kind and wages in kind.
• MONETARY EXPENDITURE:  Private household expenditure that corresponds to all purchases of goods and services at home or abroad, whether for immediate consumption, supply, or storage.
• MEAN CONSUMPTION EXPENDITURE:  Private household expenditure that corresponds to the ratio between the total expenditure, made up of monetary and non-monetary expenditure, of private households that fulfil a certain condition and the number of those households.
